The youthful lyrics about longing for a past relationship are relatable and the summery vibe comes at exactly the right time of the year. To be fair, ‘Anywhere’ is a perfect pop song to take inspiration from, so no worries there! Actually, ‘Only You’ has a lot of potential to become a hit in its own right. I am not talking plagiarism here, as the melody and composition are distinctly different, but it just seems like they used the same template. While ‘Anywhere’ sure was not the first within its genre, the acoustic elements, the big singalong chorus and the infectious electronic breakdown that follows on ‘Only You’ all sound inspired by said Rita Ora hit. I am pretty sure it is not just me, when I say that ‘Only You’ reminds me a lot of Rita Ora’s international hit ‘Anywhere’.
They clearly hope to repeat these successes with the brand new ‘Only You’, while following the same format as a recent hit by another British pop star.
